Charlie Condou has taken to selling his clothes online after the Covid-19 pandemic halted his acting work.
The former Coronation Street star, 48, played kind Marcus Dent on the ITV soap opera from 2007 to 2008 and then from 2011 to until his final exit in 2014.
He most recently portrayed Ben Sherwood on BBC medical drama Holby City from 2019 but departed the show in March last year.
Sadly, like many in the acting profession, Charlie’s planned theatre work was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Charlie tweeted on Tuesday: “The play I was due to do has been postponed again so now I really would like a job.
“Will accept anything. Especially roles for middle aged men who dress in loose clothing”.
Now the actor is selling his stylish designer clothes on second-hand designer clothing site website Depop.
Tweeting the link out earlier this month, Charlie penned: “Making use of my abundance of free time, I’m clearing out my wardrobe”.
Amongst the listings are £245 worth of jumpers, including a brand new £80 cashmere jumper in electric blue.
Meanwhile, a used burgundy pre-worn vintage Dior jumper is also on sale for £40.
As Charlie put the feelers out for acting roles, his followers had some suggestions.
Charlie replied: “Yes”
Another follower responded to Charlie’s tweet and commented: “If you’re worried about parts with tight clothes you could go for the part of attractive, approaching middle aged, nudist.
“No need to concern yourself with tight clothing then, just worry about cold studios [laughing emoji]”.
A game Charlie responded: “I’m in!!”
The popular actor and LGBTQI+ activist made headlines earlier this year when he addressed a poor and long-running working relationship that he had had.
Charlie had taken to Twitter and written: “Taking my cue from @BridgLondon, who’s the nicest celeb you’ve met? And who’s the nastiest?
“Nicest – Viggo Mortensen was the absolute best when I worked with him.
“Nastiest – someone I had to work with closely for a long time …..”
Naturally, his followers speculated it was a Coronation Street cast member, especially as former Corrie star Vicky Entwistle replied to his tweet: “[Four laughing emojis] I know!!!! X”.
Charlie lives with his husband Cameron Laux and their two children Georgia and Hal, who the couple share with actress Catherine Kanter.
