A glamorous gran has a new sexy style and says she looks better than ever and even shares clothes with her granddaughter despite being in her 70s.
Eva Chapman was fed up with feeling down about her age when she hit her late 50s and decided it was time to revamp her clothes and attitude.
After the gran-of-six swapped floral prints and blouses for sequins and mini dresses, Eva’s sex life with husband, Jake, 76, improved and she feels sexier now than she did in her 20s.
The 74-year-old’s new-found confidence has even influenced her eldest granddaughter, Elkie, 13, who now loves to dress up and borrow her gran’s dresses and heels.
Eva, from Exmoor, Somerset, said: “I feel much sexier than when I was in my 20s, I’m the best I’ve ever looked.
“When I was in my late 50s I got really down about my age.
“I hated my wrinkles, the rolls around my middle and the way I had started to look.
“I had put on weight, I hated most of my clothes and I really started to look dumpy.
“But I started to question why I couldn’t still be sexy in my older years and I decided I just needed to embrace my age and wear whatever I wanted.
“I started buying mini skirts and sequin dresses, colourful platform heels and feather boas.
“I had been told as a teenager I had chicken legs so I’d always been self conscious of them. But, I realised they were lovely and decided to show them off a lot.
“I filled my wardrobe wardrobe with all the party outfits a 20 year old girl dreams of.”
After changing up her wardrobe Eva, who is the author of four books, started putting her party outfits on display at festivals and parties, dancing until 6am with husband and physics professor, Jake.
The new lease of life has inspired Eva’s daughter, Sophi, 49, and granddaughter, Elkie, 13, who now borrows her clothes.
Eva said: “My daughter jokes that she can’t compete with me.
“But I think I have influenced her and my granddaughter with my new confidence.
“Sophi says it has helped her realise she can wear whatever she wants and my granddaughter loves dressing up in my clothes.
“Whenever we see each other Elkie is always putting on my heels and dresses and she looks amazing in them.”
Shortly after writing her first book, Sexy At 70, Eva joined Instagram where she has more than 12,000 followers who tune in for her ageless body positivity.
Daughter Sophi hopes that it will make more women realise that sexy doesn’t stop after menopause.
Sophi said: “I definitely noticed when she hit the menopause she became quite frumpy and she had a clothing identity crisis.
“We had lots of conversations about what she could wear. I remember going through her wardrobe with her and she would hate every item of clothing.
“Her transition to now, going to festivals and parties wearing what she wants has been brilliant.
“She’s gone from having one dressing up box to having three rooms in her house dedicated to her clothes.
“I just have to walk in and I can find five perfect outfits to borrow.
“My mum is 74 and I can still borrow her clothes, in fact she has a better wardrobe than me.
“When she was first looking at Instagram she was saying ‘why does it have to be just for younger people?’ and decided to set one up.
“She still has a fantastic body.
“I think she’s sending a brilliant message for people to realise that you don’t have to give up the ghost after menopause.
“My mum is definitely enjoying her third wave.”
