From Ganni To Rixo, Here Are The Best Trends From Copenhagen Fashion Week You Can Wear Now Leave a comment

In Copenhagen this week, some of our very favourite Scandi designers have been providing some much-needed sartorial distraction to help us escape the mundanity of lockdown. Through a series of digital presentations and shows, the likes of Ganni, Stine Goya, Baum und Pferdgarten and even our very own Rixo have been showing us all what we want to wear now, let alone later in the year. Luckily, many of the major trends are pieces you can find (and wear) now.

Sustainability was, as usual, a major focus for CPFW, particularly because we’re now a year on from the event’s announcement that fashion brands would have to comply with minimum standards and obtain a minimum point score in a sustainability survey by 2023 in order to show at the event. This season, Zalando partnered with CPFW to launch Zalando Greenhouse, an immersive platform designed to encourage brands to explore alternative approaches to design and production. A jury of industry experts evaluated the finalists’ sustainability strategies, crowning House of Dagmar as the winners of the €20,000 prize, as well as a partnership with Zalando to develop an exclusive capsule collection, which will be available to shop on the website.

In terms of the clothes themselves, they included some of the most wearable trends – sweater vests were still big news, for example – as well as some of the most covetable coats that are certain to be a sell-out success come autumn this year.

Being housebound doesn’t mean you can’t stay ahead of the trends, however, Given that so many of Copenhagen’s most desirable items are pieces you can easily find in shops now, here are the best CPFW AW21 trends to add to your wardrobe and wear as soon as possible.

Sweater Vests

As seen at Ganni (pictured), By Malene Birger, Baum und Pferdgarten and Stine Goya, sweater vests will clearly still be big news for autumn/winter 2021. Someone tell Harry Styles – he will be pleased.

House of Dagmar (pictured) showed midi skirts with fringed hems, cementing the detail as a firm favourite for the chilly season ahead. Whether it was subtle, à la By Malene Birger’s scarves or much more dramatic, as seen in H&M’s new Studio collection, it’s clear we’ll be swooshing our way into autumn 2021.

Puffer Coats

This glossy puffer from Rodebjer was just one of several padded styles Copenhagen had to offer. Ganni’s long navy coat married form with function, Holzweiler’s hooded scarlet number gave us a contemporary spin on Little Red Riding Hood and Stand’s quilted styles had a preppy twist. Well, what is a Scandi winter without an all-encompassing puffer jacket?

NYNNE (pictured) played with those clean lines so synonymous with Scandi design, offering up some of the chicest tailoring of the week. This oversized blazer has perfect proportions and also joins H&M’s creamy jacket, as well as Ganni’s androgynous suit in championing these cover-ups for another season.

Rixo (pictured) showed its summer offering as part of CPFW this season, reminding us all of the power of a really great dress. And none do that quite as well as the Danes, with Ganni, Stine Goya, NYNNE and Rodebjer all showing us the ready-made outfits we’ll be wearing later this year.
