There’s a fantastic photo from 1981 of Prince Charles skiing in Klosters. HRH appears every bit the rakish young royal and proves looking elegant on (and off) piste means paying attention to the details. Fortunately, just in time for ski season (where better to socially distance than on the slopes?) a host of the world’s most important luxury brands have thrown their cashmere-clad caps into the ring with a series of chillingly good ski- and snowboard-focused collections.
1. Louis Vuitton 2054
Introduced by Virgil Abloh, the new Louis Vuitton 2054 collection is a sports-focused embodiment of the directional nature of the visionary designer’s seasonal menswear offerings. Finished predominantly in nylon, there’s an excellent green and black print inspired by night vision and a ridiculously desirable leather parka that comes with a 3-D pattern. But if you’re really concerned about being on the slopes, we recommend the puffer jacket in full silver. louisvuitton.com
2. Dior Ski
From retro intarsia sweaters with a Swiss chocolate box appeal to chic mustard salopettes and Dior monogram-emblazoned undergarments, every bit of Kim Jones’ new ski capsule for Dior could just as easily be worn on a night out this winter as it could on the slopes (branded ski helmet notwithstanding). There are also excellent hype-worthy padded slip-on shoes, which look equal parts cosy and achingly cool. dior.com
3. Neve by Giorgio Armani
Unsurprisingly understated, Giorgio Armani’s new Neve ski line is everything you’d expect from the master of soft-shouldered Milanese tailoring. Finished near exclusively in monochrome shades, the collection features everything from duvet coats to salopettes, but it’s really the accessories range that has caught our attention, most notably this natty trapper cap in – you guessed it – black (it’ll help you stand out in the snow). armani.com

Goggles by Moncler
Is your on-piste look Chernobyl liquidator meets Zsa Zsa Gabor in the mind of Prince Charles? Then these brilliantly bonkers Moncler ski goggles are for you.
Boots by Prada
Not technically designed for wearing on the slopes, the tread on these bang-on-trend Prada boots will keep you steady in the snow at the après-ski sesh.
Gloves by Dsquared2
Less prohibitively puffy than others on the market, these low-profile gloves from the Canadian-cum-Italian mega brand are the only things to be seen in on the slopes.
